Terms of Service
By registering for or using RivalPrize ("the Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service. Read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. Nature of the Platform
RivalPrize is a skill-based video game contest platform. Users compete head-to-head in sports video games for cash prizes. This is not gambling. Contests are won through the skill of the players, not by chance. RivalPrize operates under the skill-based gaming contest exemption consistent with federal law and applicable state laws.
All language on the Platform reflects this distinction: we use "contest" not "wager," "entry fee" not "bet," and "prize" not "winnings payout."
2. Eligibility
To use the Platform you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a resident of the United States.
- Not be a resident of Arizona, Iowa, Hawaii, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, or South Dakota, where skill-based cash contests are prohibited.
- Provide accurate registration information, including your state of residence.
We reserve the right to verify eligibility at any time and to close accounts found to be in violation. Misrepresenting your state of residence is grounds for immediate account termination and forfeiture of any pending balance.
3. Account and Wallet
Your RivalPrize wallet holds funds you have deposited. These funds are a liability of the Platform — they are yours, not revenue, until a contest resolves and the platform fee is earned.
- Deposits and withdrawals are processed exclusively via PayPal.
- You must accept these Terms before making your first deposit.
- All balances are held in aggregate and not segregated in individual custodial accounts.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
4. Contests and Matches
- Minimum entry: $5.00 per side. Maximum entry: $500.00 per side.
- Open contests expire after 24 hours if no opponent accepts.
- Once a contest is accepted, both players' entry fees are held in escrow.
- Results must be reported by both players within 2 hours of match completion.
- If both players report the same winner, the prize is automatically released to the winner.
- If reports conflict, the match enters a dispute state and is reviewed by Platform staff.
- Escrow funds are never released without matching reports from both players or a staff ruling.
5. Platform Fee
Upon resolution of a contest, the Platform collects a fee of 10% of the prize pool. No fee is collected on cancelled or unmatched contests.
6. Disputes
If players report conflicting results, a dispute is opened and escrow is frozen. Platform staff will review available evidence, including any screenshots or notes submitted by the players. Staff rulings are final. By using the Platform you agree to be bound by dispute resolutions.
7. Prohibited Conduct
- Colluding with an opponent to manipulate contest outcomes.
- Submitting false match results.
- Using unauthorized software or exploits during a match.
- Creating multiple accounts.
- Using the Platform from a prohibited state.
- Conducting any activity that violates applicable law.
Violations may result in account suspension, permanent ban, forfeiture of wallet balance, and referral to law enforcement where appropriate.
8. Withdrawals
Withdrawals are paid to the PayPal account you register in your profile. You are responsible for ensuring your PayPal email is accurate. A withdrawal processing fee may apply (fee amount will be disclosed at time of withdrawal). Withdrawals may be held for review for up to 5 business days.
9. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account for violation of these Terms, for fraudulent activity, or for any other reason at our discretion. If an account is terminated for reasons other than fraud or policy violation, any available balance will be refunded via PayPal within 10 business days.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Platform is provided "as is." We make no warranties regarding uptime, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, RivalPrize shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Jackson County, Missouri.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be communicated by email or notice within the Platform.
